Ben Gardner Wins Yale Science and Engineering Award

Benjamin Gardner, high school junior at Sale Creek Middle High School, was the recipient of several awards at the Regional UTC Science & Engineering Fair. Gardener’s project, “Can Parachutes Be Used to Replace Runaway ramps?,” won the following awards: The Yale Science and Engineering Association Award for the Most Outstanding Exhibit in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry; NASA Earth Systems Science Award; First Place winner in the category of Physics and Astronomy; and Second Place Senior Division Sweepstakes Award and ISEF Participant Award.

Gardner will attend an all-expense paid trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 13-18th, to compete in the world’s largest science competition for pre-college students. He will be competing with more than 1,800 students from over 70 countries and providences from around the world, with a chance to win nearly 4 million dollars in awards. Gardner will spend a week preparing setup, inspections, and presentations to judges and thousands of Middle and High school students. Way to go Benjamin!
